CAHSEE testing
I recently just took the CAHSEE exam, it's a test thats pretty basic. It's mainly an exit slip to get out of high school. The teachers just want to make sure that you know the basic information. There were two parts to the exam. Math and Humanities. I felt that throughout the math questions I did pretty well. I felt strong through out most of the questions except a few types of problems that I would like the be refreshed on. Such as Slopes. I think that was most likely the only questions that I did not do well on. Because most of the questions were topics covered in 8th grade, there were a few in which I was unrefreshed with. So when I came to those situations I mainly started using process of elimination, It really helped me a lot by narrowing down the possible answer. Then after that I would just check the remaining answers and try to pick one that made the most sense. So overall, a few Habits of a Mathematician I used was Conjecturing and Testing. As I explained in my answer above I would test to make sure that the answer was right or seemed somewhat reasonable. I also used this with problems that I knew, being able to test out your options and varies is also another way to use process of elimination.
SAT/ACT
As I start to move up in my high school chain from being a sophomore to a junior. I must start thinking about colleges. A few that I am fairly interested are the following: UC Davis,UCSD, UCSB. Those are mainly the only colleges that I have heard has a strong vet program, which is what I am strongly interested in.
In prep for helping me do well on the SAT I plan with studying on a booklet of practice problems of the test, that way I am somewhat familiar with the questions. I plan on taking it junior year and senior year so that I can try to improve my score senior year from junior year.
SAT UC Davis: Critical Reading: 510 / 640 Math: 560 / 680 Writing: 530 / 650
SAT UCSD: Writing: 580/690 Math: 620/730 Critical reading: 550/660.
SAT UCSB: Critical Reading: 530 / 650 Math: 560 / 690 SAT Writing 550 / 660
