Before Exhibition:
During the process of creating our exhibition project, everybody was putting in their hardest work to get their project done. Before exhibition everybody was required to make anything they wanted as long as it was somewhat watershed related. You were able to have a partner if you wanted but if not you were able to do your own project by yourself. I chose to have a partner, my partner and I decided to make an example of what the watershed cycle is. So we had about 2-3 weeks to create it before it was exhibition day.
Process of Creating our Project:
Week 1- Mostly in this week we were planning what we were gonna make and wear we would place it and how we were going to display it. We also gathered supplies so that the 2nd week we were able to start building right away without any pauses.
Week 2- This was our building week. We accomplished creating our main piece, then we had to think of more supplies we were going to need for the rest of our project.
Week 3- Our final week came and we had to get everything done. This entire week was dedicated to just finishing our project. We had to place our project in some type of display, in which we chose a fish tank. That way everything just stayed put. This was defiantly the hardest week of it all because there was so much pressure to finishing.
Exhibition Night:
Exhibition night was a total success, everybody finished what they needed to and everyone was prepared for the audience who was ready to ask questions. Exhibition was about 2 hours long. During this time me and my partner got to explain to our audience what it was we created and what our process was of this project.
A few observations my group had during our snail research project were the following:
Day 1:
Land Snails
Activeness level: 2
We originally thought all of our land snails were dead; none of them were moving. After a while, we had lightly touched the bottom of the snail and all had reacted. This proves that they were alive; afterward they resumed their dead-like state, doing nothing.
Impact level: 4
The only two noticeable things we've seen the land do was eat the leaves and excrete.
Sea Snails
Activeness level: 5
Originally the sea snails weren’t moving at all, causing some doubt; after a bit, their water was changed to make it cooler. Then they started moving a little. They ate all of the provided algae in the tank.
Impact Level: 1
We were unable to find any impacts the sea snails committed to the environment.
Day 2:
Land Snails:
Activeness level: 3
There wasn’t much of a difference with the Land Snails activity-wise; all that was really noticeable was they were in different spots than the day prior, and they were resting.
Environmental Impact: 3.5
There still wasn’t much of a difference with the land snails, all we saw different were that there were more leaves eaten and there was more poop.
Sea Snails:
Activeness level: 3
Likewise, we didn’t see much of a difference with the Sea Snails; all we really saw were they were in different spots from the night before and they were still eating.
Environmental Impact: 4
We saw a bit of a difference from the day prior; there was more algae eaten and the biggest difference we saw was the water was a lot more dirty,
Day 3:
Land Snails:
Activeness level: 3
We didn’t see any difference from day 2; they were in different spots and were resting.
Environmental Impact: 3.5
All we saw noticeably different than yesterday was there was more poop and more leaves were eaten.
Sea Snails:
Activeness level: 3
Again we didn’t see much of a difference from the day before; they were just in different spots.
Environmental Impact: 4
The only difference we saw was a relatively big one; the water was a lot dirtier than the day before.
Day 4:
Land Snails:
Activeness Level: 1
We think they might be dead
Environmental Impact: 3.5
There is still poop
Sea Snails:
Activeness Level: 3:
Same as day 3
Environmental Impact: 5
DIRTIER WATER
Day 5:
Land Snails:
Activeness level: 5
The snails weren’t dead - they moved around a lot when we were gone, and had even left the tank they were in.
Environmental Impact: 6
They ate a lot of leaves while we were gone, and the dirt became a lot more dry
Sea Snails:
Activeness level: 3
The snails hadn’t really done anything since day 4.
Environmental Impact: 6
The water had gotten a lot dirtier than before - that was the only real difference, but it was a big one.
