What is the carbon cycle?
The carbon cycle is the process in which carbon is absorbed from the atmosphere, then stored deep within the ground. First, plantlife absorbs the carbon in the air and or underwater plants will absorb it which will keep the carbon inside them. When the plants dies they release the carbon inside them, then is burned and creates cellular reputation. They can also be eaten by animals, like cows they will eat the plants and absorb the carbon just like plants do. then when the animal dies their decay also releases carbon dioxide, which returns it to the beginning of the cycle. Humans and Animals breathe out CO2, which can return it to the start of the cycle as well. There is another option, however, where carbon is stored within the earth because the plants and animals do not decay before being buried. This carbon forms oil, limestone, and other compounds.
How does it differ between land and ocean?
There is basically no difference between land and ocean except the fact that through the ocean the carbon absorbs through the water and then the cycle occurs in which the plants absorb it then the animals eat the plants and so on. So like I said the only difference is that one is underwater and one is on land.
What is carbon?
Carbon is a chemical element on the periodic table,The atomic number is 6. A nonmetal with two forms that occur in a form of charcoal and coal.Carbon is an element that can bond with many other elements. It’s very unique how carbon can bond because its also able to bond with itself.
What are some different chemical compounds involved in the carbon cycle?
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the main compound involved in the carbon cycle. This gas is the what makes up carbon in our atmosphere. It also exists outside of the biotic world as carbonate rocks (CaCO3) and dissolved in water (HCO3).
How does the carbon cycle relate to climate?
Carbon dioxide affects our climate in a couple ways. The Carbon is creating more heat in our environment which then causes the heat to become trapped within our atmosphere. This is a huge problem in the world. Because the carbon is trapping the heat, the heat is now spreading everywhere and making the ice caps melt. Without the ice we don’t get cold air because the wind would hit the ice as it goes along and hit the ice to create a cold breeze.
Name at least three ways people contribute to changes in the carbon cycle.
One way that people change the carbon cycle is by burning fossil fuels. Like oil, natural gas, and coal. it’s dumping carbon dioxide into our air. Another is simply breathing. When you breathe out your releasing carbon dioxide into our environment. Another way that we contribute and change the cycle is dead bodies. When humans die they release carbon and methane. Methane is another form of carbon as well.
